Silhouette Show

I think this is more of an Amazingly Amusing Art Find.

Wilhelm Staele's Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre is creative, artistic and humurous {a dangerously hilarious combination} you can even buy prints of is amusing art. I went through each picture on his one page blog and couldn.nt help but to leave with a smile. I hope you.ll do the same.

Enjoy.

Amazing Art Find

I found this artist online the other day and i loved what i saw.
The artist is Esra Roise. The thing about her art that captured my interest was the use black and white illustrations partenered with a touch of watercolors. I love the contrast and ofcourse the attention to detail. Definitely worth a look see.

The Blog of a College Freshman

As the title states, this is about to become the blog of a college freshman {other than the fact that i.ll be in college for the first time, nothing will really change}.I start college in a couple weeks and i am so excited. Compared to everyone else i completely wasted my summer days by sleeping in and staying up late... doing nothing.

I can.t wait to start. I recieved my financial aid and my housing info today, which helped me realize how close that day is coming.

At first, i was so excited and happy that i got into a really good college, but a random feeling of inferiority seems to show its ugly head once in a while. Though i got into the college, i didn.t make it into any programs including the prestigious honors program. This may sound pretentious, but i.ve been an honors student all my life, and becoming a beyond regular student is new for me. Having all my friends get into these programs didn.t help much either.

This feeling made me realize that i should.ve tried harder these past four years, but it.s too late now.

So, to eliminate this annoying feeling of inferiority, i.m going to make the best of my situation and try my best to succeed anyway. I.m proud to say i tend to learn from my mistakes {though new ones keep coming}. I can.t wait to take on this challenge.

Bloglovin

I.m on Bloglovin now!
It.s going to take me a while to figure out what it.s for...
but i.m up for the challenge of not being lazy.

Meteor Shower

Tonight will be a magical night. The Perseid meteor shower is supposed to be visible tonight and tomorrow in the wee hours of the night. I am more than anxious to see this beautiful spectacle since i missed the once in a lifetime solar eclipse. No shooting stars yet, but i wont give up hope. Besides. There.s always tomorrow.

The Beatles

I came across this video today while on my daily webventures, and i am more than glad i did. I am a huge beatles fan and i think it.s awesome that a Rock Band video game is being made exclusively for them and their music.

Now i.m a guitar player, but not a guitar hero player so unfortunately i will not be playing this one either anytime soon {though i.d love to try}. But what really excited me about this video was the video itself. I loved the animation, art concept and the portrayal of one of my favorite bands. I am also a fan of random psychadelic weirdness.

I hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

Amazing Art Find

I came across this amazing artist Danny Roberts today on my blog ventures and fell in love with his work. Click on his name and see the magic for yourself.

1950.s Stewardess

Ok. So while at the Air and Space Museum, my buddy and i came upon an exhibit called 'Could You Be a Stewardess in the 1950.s?' It basically and very cleverly informed us about the requirements to be hired as a stewardess in the 1950.s. What i learned, blew my mind. Let.s see how qualified you are.

Ladies and Gentlemen. Are you ready to play?

Unbelievable.

Even more unbelievable. What is "Just below Hollywood standards?"

I don.t think i met this qualification.

Usually, i am definitely not cool with sexism, and though this case is no different, i couldn.t help but fall over and laugh at how ridiculous people were back then. My loud laughing tyrade caused a few stares to come my way, but it drew alot of attention to the exhibit so even more minds could be blown. What crazy standards. So my answer was no. I couldn.t be a Stewardess in the 1950.s. What about you?

Field Trip

Today, i went on a field trip to a part of D.C. i hadn.t been to in years. My "aunt" {who is really more of a super close friend} and i decided we wanted to go visit a couple museums in D.C. today, but due to my lazy ways, we only had time for one. The Air and Space Museum. Take a look at our adventure.

The entrance/exit of the metro. I loved the architecture of the underground walls.

The escalator up was so high, i was almost afraid to get on. Yes i am a fear of heights wimp and proud of it.

The Capitol.

Every street in D.C. is either a number or one of the 50 states in America. This is mine.

I believe this was Apollo 13, but don.t take my word for it.

Everywhere we turned there was a cool and interesting piece of art or architecture caught our eye.

At one point we found a beautiful garden outside the castle which i believe holds another museum.

My favorite color.

I hope you enjoyed this journey with me.

Behold. My Idiocy

For longest time, i wondered with a sad frown on my face. Why doesn.t anyone ever leave comments on any of my posts. It befuddled me for the longest. I discovered the reason today. No one left comments, because no one could leave comments. Great =[.

Please, behold my idiocy, and accept my apology. I believe i have fixed the problem. I just wish i had known earlier. And i can.t even say, "why didn.t anyone tell me?"... because, they couldn.t. Again. I.m sorry. please fellow bloggers, feel free to comment your heart out on my blog. I would greatly appreciate it.

Much thanks.

Cooking Lesson

I did something new today. I got off my butt and learned to cook. Coming from an african family, it.s expected of me as a women to learn how to cook. I really do hate that as a girl, it.s harder for me to gain acceptance than my brothers. If i don.t cook, clean, or look a certain way, i.m not liked or respected. My brothers have to do approximately nothing, and everything is all good. Some say i.m a feminist, but i just don.t stand for sexism.

I started cooking today simply because, it was something i always wanted to do as a person, not only a girl. My grandmother taught me, and it was so much fun. I also loved that by learning to cook with her, i was also learning how to speak my country.s language better, since she doesn.t speak english.

By the time we were finished i was so proud of myself and felt so close to my grandmother. We made a stew that you eat with rice with onions, tomatoes, potatoes, fish and peppers in it. Sounds healthy right? It was until we added Palmolive oil to it. After awhile of eating the seasoned soup with rice, i could feel the heartburn sliding down my throat. I couldn.t finish it. But it was the memories made that were most important to me.

I wish i took pictures.
